Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is an exciting real-time strategy game, and a sequel to the first Command & Conquer story. It was first released back in 1999 and so looks basic when compared to the latest releases, but Tiberian Sun is still packed with playability, a perfect way to spend a few spare hours.
Released in 2000, Tiberian Sun is the second game in the 'Tiberium Wars' storyline which will end with C&C4. Tiberian takes place roughly 30 years after the original C&C. The Global Defense Initiative and Brotherhood of Nod are once again waging war over the mysterious substance known as Tiberium. THE BATTLE FOR THE FUTURE HAS BEGUN! Free downloadable tiberian sun mac programs like SDE for Sun ONE (CE) for Mac OS X, SDE for Sun ONE (PE) for Mac OS X, SDE for Sun ONE (PE) OS X.
The story once again pitches good guys the Global Defence Initiative against the global terrorist group the Brotherhood of NOD, whose use of the deadly Tiberium substance is beginning to lay waste to whole areas of the world. Full motion video clips using big-name actors like Michael Biehn and James Earl Jones explain the details as you go along. And before you know it, you're pitched into a lengthy and interesting campaign game.
You can play either the NOD or the GDI, and they both have their own custom units and characteristics. The GDI are good in the air, for instance, with pesky soldiers that fly over on jetpacks and harass your ground-locked units. But the NOD have units that can burrow underground, sneaking up inside an enemy base to cause the maximum amount of chaos. And their artillery are amongst the most powerful vehicles in the game, able to pound the enemy into submission from a very safe distance.
There's plenty of variety in your campaign missions, though, so you'll need to learn how to make the best of whatever force you're given. Sometimes this may be tiny, requiring you to sneak around and avoid conflict. Occasionally you'll be given a solid objective up-front, perhaps a base you must destroy, a person to rescue. But of course you'll often be faced with that favourite RTS plot: build a base, harvest resources, then explore the map, mercilessly destroying everything you find.
And if that's not enough, this download also includes Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun – Firestorm, an expansion pack that adds new story elements, missions and gameplay options.
This is all relatively straightforward, easy to learn. If you don't have the time for a full campaign, though, it's also possible to play skirmishes, pitched battles against multiple human or computer opponents. These can take place on pre-built maps, or you can generate new random maps to suit your requirements. They're hectic, a lot of fun, but needn't take up much time - a simple two-player skirmish can be over in maybe 15 or 20 minutes, so it's easy to squeeze in a game even if you've only a few moments to spare.

Tiberian Sun was not as well received as the other games in the C&C series. It was criticized for being slow, and too much like its older counterparts, not to mention the bugs, balance issues and the promised features that were never implemented. However many of the issues with Tiberian Sun disappeared after the land slide of patches it got.

The Plot
About 35 years have passed since the end of Tiberian Dawn. Kane is presumed dead and the Brotherhood is in disarray. Nod fights itself; brother against brother. Nod has been corrupted even through its highest echelons; a GDI controlled puppet named Hassan is in charge. With the Brotherhood divided and scattered the GDI have put their focus elsewhere; containing the threat of Tiberium. Over the last three decades it has become apparent that Tiberium is terraforming the planet by consuming Earthborne ecosystems and spawning its own alien ecosystems.
Tiberium is not the GDI's only problem; followers of Kane still exist and they will stop at nothing until they have revealed the truth about Hassan and his followers. Anton Slavik, the leader of this group, has been attempted executed by Hassan for being a 'GDI spy' but little do they know, even among Hassan's most elite soldiers there are people who oppose his rule and so Slavik is freed. Despite this Hassan broadcasts false messages about Slavik's supposed death, but this does not go as planned for Hassan. Slavik becomes a hero of the Brotherhood, and when people discover that he is still alive they rise up against Hassan. Hassan is cornered and captured, he is brought to the masses and in his last moments gets the shock of his life; 'You can't kill the Messiah!'
After this incident, GDI outposts are attacked; everywhere and from all directions. Even though it sounds ridicules there is no doubt who has returned; Nod's true leader..
So begins the Second Tiberium War!

Tiberium, named after the Tiber River where it was first discovered, is both a crystal and a lifeform that arrived on Earth in a meteorite. It spreads through unknown means, but has proven to be very useful. Tiberium leeches minerals from the soil causing the formation of Tiberium crystals. These crystals are rich in precious minerals and are available at a minimum of mining expense.
Since the First Tiberium War the more mutagenic properties of Tiberium has become more apparent. It started with blossom trees and viceroids, but since then other creatures such as the tiberian fiend and veins have been discovered with reports of other Tiberium based creatures flowing in. One thing is certain Tiberium is changing our planet and if not combated it will create a world completely alien to us.
The Forgotten
'Unlike you Blunts, the Forgotten are a people of honor!' - Umagon
As Tiberium spread across the world more and more people came in contact with it. Most people died of exposure and those who did not suffered the fate of turning into a viceroid. However, a few survived retaining both their own free will and humanity, but still left scarred by Tiberium mutation. These people are referred to as Mutants, or Shiners after the crystals growing on their skin. While some of these Mutants are the result of more natural exposure others are the result of Tiberium experimentation done by Nod.
Shunned, feared and misunderstood Mutants do not often get along with their 'pure' counterparts and thus they live far away from settlements or with their own kind. They refer to themselves as 'The Forgotten' as they are not considered a part of the lives of those unaffected by Tiberium mutation, whom the Forgotten refer to as 'Blunts'.
